Surry Village Charter School is a state-authorized, open-enrollment public charter school. If space is available, any child living in New Hampshire can attend — at no cost. We teach the Common Core through a project-based approach that builds a real passion for learning.
Our classrooms are multi-age (except Kindergarten): K, 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th, and 7th/8th. We're a small school by design — about 90 students across two campuses — so every teacher and staff member genuinely knows every child.
A village school offers students a crucial sense of connection and belonging. Teachers, parents, townspeople, and students work and celebrate together, so students see the value of service and become engaged citizens — in this community, and wherever they go next.

Three pillars — project-based learning, community involvement, and social curriculum — shape every day at SVCS.
Multi-week, real-world projects connect subjects and build genuine competency, confidence, and depth of understanding.
Town elders read in classrooms, students work with local farmers, visit the town library weekly, and maintain the village roads.
A daily routine builds community and positive climate, and teaches students to resolve conflict and own their learning.
K, 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th, and 7th/8th groupings let older students mentor younger ones every day.
State adequacy aid funds SVCS like any public school — open enrollment means no cost to any NH family.
Despite a smaller budget than the state average, SVCS students exceed NH averages in ELA, Math, and Science on the NH SAS.

SVCS is a state-authorized open-enrollment charter school. If space is available, any child living in New Hampshire can attend at no cost. Enrollment preference goes first to siblings of current students, then staff members, then Surry residents. Spots are filled through a lottery process — call us, it can be confusing and we're glad to help.
